I actually got OUT OF BED at 5:05 this morning. Whew that is early!
Was on my bike outside by 5:30 am, and rode a good 70 minutes. Nice morning, not much traffic, did a hilly ride with some good tunes on the ipod.
Was a good start to the day, which just went downhill from there...
Does listening to music while riding keep you from hearing traffic noise? I'm uncomfortable not being able to hear my environment for safety's sake.
ReplyDeleteFor the first 6 years that I was a cyclist, I felt the same way, and I NEVER listened to music. Then in 2008, I got REALLY BORED on long bike rides training for Ironman, and I started listening to music. Now I never ride without music. As for safety, I really don't think it makes a difference - since most of my bike awareness is visual and kinesthetic. Hearing cars doesn't really help. One time I just "felt" that a car was heading into me, and I automatically swerved right into a parking lot to avoid him - that was strange. Anyway, you have to do what feels comfortable for you...
